Packaging apparel, fabric, and textiles

Following the Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) product packaging guidelines can limit damage to your products, help make shipping costs more predictable, and help ensure the best buyer experience.

Cloth, fabric, and textiles can be damaged by dust or humidity. These products must be packaged so that they are not damaged during receipt, stocking, shipment preparation, or delivery to the customer. Place units in a sealed poly bag, shrink wrap, or box. Regular-size hangers usually must be removed (for more information, see Hanger removal on Prepare your products for FBA shipping).

Packaging guidelines

Do...Do not...

Place individual units of apparel and products made of fabric or textiles, along with any cardboard backings, in transparent, sealed bags or shrink wrap (minimum of 1.5 mil) clearly marked with a suffocation warning label.

Fold items to the smallest dimensions to fit in the package.

For items with negligible dimensions or weight, enter 0.01 inch for length, height, and width, and 0.05 lb for weight.

Fold all clothing neatly to its minimal dimensions and place it in an exact-fit bag or box. Make sure boxes aren¡¯t creased or broken.

Measure footwear in its original, manufacturer-provided box.

Use boxes for materials such as leather that could be damaged by bags or shrink wrap.

Ensure that each product has a scannable label visible after bagging.

Package footwear with no material exposed.

Allow the bag or shrink wrap to protrude more than 3 inches past the dimensions of the product.

Include regular-size hangers. For more information, see Hanger removal on Prepare your products for FBA shipping.

Send in unmatched singles or groups of shoes without a secured shoebox.

Use packaging for footwear other than the original manufacturer-provided box.
